Health, Safety and Environment

McNamara Contractors Ltd has nominated a Health and Safety Consultant who works alongside our management team to help create clear policies, to install effective organisation and planning, to measure performance and consistently monitor and review our processes.

These aims are carried out through monthly visits of our construction sites, written reports, management meetings, risk assessments and method statements. Site operatives receive toolbox talks regularly and we have a training programme in place which starts with achieving the Basic CSCS Site Operative card and progresses on towards achieving NVQs beyond.

Brendan McNamara is our nominated person responsible for Health and Safety and he acts on advice from our safety consultants and ensures that all employees and sub-contractors comply with Health and Safety regulation and site specific safety rules.

Our safety consultant visits our sites unannounced on a monthly basis and reports back to our management team on all findings good and bad. Senior management also visits sites on a weekly basis as a minimum. We hold monthly management meetings to review the effectiveness of our processes in place and make arrangements for improved practices to be integrated into our systems.

Environmental Policy

Our buying department will select materials, plant and equipment with due regard to minimalising energy. We will promote the use of the materials which comply with environmental standards as set out by the relevant statutory bodies. We encourage the reduction of waste and we use suppliers whose policy on the environment and recycling is similar to our own and who promote a high standard in this important area. We require our employees to comply with noise, vibration, dust and disposal of waste regulations.
